A Padawan Palooza concluded this year’s MSU space science Padawan program.

Participating students gave presentations in the Space Science Center’s theatre Wednesday. Topics included working with the SSC’s ground operations, machine shop, micro-soldering, exo-medicine and environmental testing.

Each student in the program, known as a Padawan, worked with a professor or more experienced student known as Jedi Knights. Padawans at the event said the program had a positive effect on their futures.

“It was a lot of valuable information to use later in my career,” said Robert Simpson, who worked in the machine shop as part of his Padawan experience.

Another student said the program was a positive experience for the Jedi Knight instructors as well.

“He was always excited,” Christian Thompson said. “Said it was fun to work with me and the feeling was mutual.”

Padawans and Jedi Knights concluded the event with pizza.

Wednesday's palooza marks the end of the first year of the Padawan Program at the SSC.
