EVANSVILLE, IN. Freshman Johni Broome scored a game-high 27 points and brought down 12 rebounds to lead the Eagles to the Ohio Valley Conference crown in a COVID-19 shortened season.

The Morehead State men’s basketball team won the 2020-21 OVC Championship, beating out top-seed Belmont University 86-71.

It's been 10 years since the Eagles clinched the conference title.

Broome also earned his 13 double-double, and OVC Tournament MVP. In the past three games he’s averaged 19.3 points per game.  

Skylear Potter lead the Eagles in rebounds at 13 and scored 22 points. 

Belmont's junior center, Nick Muszynski (33), came up strong with a total of 23 points. He had a total of 3 blocks and 4 rebounds.  

Morehead State awaits Selection Sunday on March 14 to see where they’ll fall for the NCAA Tournament.
