Eleven state-wide political candidates were on campus Wednesday in an open and confrontation-free forum organized by a new Morehead State University club.

The Political Science Club hosted a meet and greet forum where each candidate, from governor to the commissioner of agriculture, had a booth and attendees of the event were able to go booth to booth talking to those they had an interest in without fear of conflict on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in Morehead Kentucky.

“We feel there is a lot of political tension in this country and we feel it is helpful to bring in people on both sides to talk to people and maybe reach a compromise,” said Gideon Bailey, a member of the club.

While compromise was a leading force in the planning of the event, it also served as a member drive and push for young people to get involved in their government and politics.

“It’s important for young people to get involved [with politics] because the world depends on it,” said Garrett Flynn, the president of the club.” As the older, more participatory voters decease, you will need someone to pick up that torch.”
