The Westboro Baptist Church is scheduled to protest at Morehead State on Monday at 9:10 a.m. "Much More Love Day" is set to begin at 9 a.m.

The following message regarding the church and Much More Love Day was delivered to all students by Madonna Weathers, vice president of Student Affairs at Morehead State.

Campus Community,

Last week you received a communication from President Andrews regarding a pending visit of Westboro Baptist Church to our campus. The team that was convened has been working diligently to ensure the safety and security of our students and employees, and I feel confident in saying that appropriate measures are in place for the demonstration.

The Student Government Association, SGA, would like to invite the campus community to join in a celebration of “Much More Love” Day on Monday, October 19, 2015. The goal of this event, in addition to showing care and concern for all members of the campus, is to raise funds for the SHARE initiative.

The Student Hardship Assistance Resource Exchange (SHARE) fund directly supports MSU students during their times of financial hardship. Students can apply to receive limited financial assistance from the SHARE fund for a variety of essential needs that cannot currently be met by the student due to a temporary hardship. The amount of funds awarded will vary and will depend on the individual situation of each student. The fund is supported entirely by donations and funds awarded do not have to be repaid.

Typical expenses that may be covered by the SHARE fund include but are not limited to:

* Medications/prescriptions or costs related to medical care

* Assistance with rent or utilities due to an emergency situation

* Safety related needs (i.e. changing a lock on a vehicle or home)

* Replacement of personal belongings due to a fire or natural disaster

Students may either personally apply to receive support from the SHARE fund, or another student may nominate a fellow Eagle who they know is in need of temporary assistance. To apply or nominate a student, download the application(s) at http://www.moreheadstate.edu/sharefund.

SGA Congress members will be distributing “Much More Love” T-shirts in exchange for any monetary donation to the SHARE Fund. Volunteers will be set up on the ADUC lawn on Monday from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. SAIL will be distributing free “Much More Love” buttons during the same time period in ADUC.

Please join us in this event as we respectfully show care and love for one another on this “Much More Love” Day!

With much more Eagle love,

Vice President Madonna Weathers
