Businessman, Entrepreneur and Ashland Native Danny Harris has established himself as an innovator

However, things did not take off immediately.

“I’ve always had an interest in starting business and I started several when I was younger,” said Harris. “I started a company called Harris Technology a number of years ago. It was based on an invention. An automated industrial motor shaft alignment invention that I had gotten a patent granted for.”

While he had a patent for his invention, he did not have the resources to make it into a reality yet.

“It’s an expensive endeavor,” said Harris.

Things soon started to go Harris’ way when he won a grant to build his prototype for the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC). KSTC is a branch of NASA that provides grants for research and inventions.

The invention was beginning to come together, but Harris still needed more resources.

“A company from Europe called Baltech took notice of my alignment system and came over to the US and flew me out to Germany,” he said.

Baltech is a company out of Germany that specializes in industrial reliability products.

Harris’ success goes beyond just his invention. Harris has also established himself as a successful businessman.

“They set me up as the USA and Canada representative for their products,” Harris said. “Of all the distributors in the whole world, I had the highest amount of sales last year.”
