What started as a hobby, is now a dream for one woman and her husband.

Brittany and Samuel Hale started Wildfire Designs Boutique in their hometown of Prestonsburg in 2016. They have recently expanded their store in Morehead.

“A lot of Prestonsburg people come here and we thought it was enough distance that Morehead didn’t have what we do anyway, so we scoped it out and we thought this would be great for the area,” said Hale.

Hale started making jewelry out of bullets as a hobby. When people started gaining interest in the southern style jewelry, she decided to make a Facebook page.

“I started meeting people and travelling to events so we decided to open a shop for three months during Christmas,” said Hale. “The three months grew into six months and we’re still doing it today.”

Wildfire sells a lot of Kentucky themed clothing, jewelry, gifts and air fresheners.

“We’re trying to keep it a little bit different so there’s some things that Morehead will get that Prestonsburg won’t have and vice versa,” said Hale.

The couple travels back and forth to both store locations to manage the boutiques.

“It is very difficult. I try to make it a part of my schedule to be down here [Morehead] once or twice a week,” said Hale. “It’s a learning experience but I plan to be hands on in both areas”

Hale said she hopes the Morehead location grows like the store in Prestonsburg and that people love what they do as much as she does.
