Winchester native Sarah Little was awarded the Gamma Phi Beta Sisterhood Scholarship last week.

Little is a double major student pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences and math. She is involved in numerous extracurricular activities, such as Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Chemistry Club, Biology Club, the American Chemical Society, Cosmopolitan Club and Best Buddies. Due to her academic excellence, she has been on the Dean’s List for six consecutive semesters.

In order to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must be involved within the sorority and outside of it, as well as submit essays to the scholarship board.

“After graduating Morehead State University, I still have years of education to complete, along with several loans to take out while doing so,” Little said. She explained that the smallest of scholarships are helpful because it minimizes the amount of loans needed.

Little thanked Mindy Highleywho was the one who presented her the award, along with the donors of the scholarship and the alumni relations office. She also thanked her chapter, specifically Jessica Lowe, for writing her executive board recommendation letter.
