Inscape, Morehead State’s very own literary and art magazine, is back for its sixty-second year.

Judging is underway for the 2019 edition of Inscape. Entries were due at the end of last semester, and now work from all different categories of art and writing are being narrowed down to the final pieces. Writing submissions vary from poetry, fiction and nonfiction works. Artwork includes photography, ceramic pieces, paintings and more.

“The magazine is important because it celebrates art and writing in a way that includes everyone on campus,” said Chelsea Mayse, Inscape's head writing editor. “It also gives students the opportunity to get published, which is really important.”

The magazine isn’t just an opportunity for Morehead students to have their work published; anyone in the entire world is welcome to submit their work to the magazine. In the past, entries from all across the United States and other countries have been published. Students and individuals from any major or background are welcome to submit their work.

The judging for the writing in Inscape is based on a panel of student judges. The judges went through submitted pieces and critiqued the work before all voting on whether or not the piece would be included on this year’s edition of the magazine. Lisa Mesa-Gaido is the judge of the art pieces.

The awards ceremony for Inscape will be held on May 2, 2019. Awards are given for outstanding writing and art pieces, and the winner of the cover design contest will also be announced. Grand prizes for artwork and the cover contest are $100, and the writing first place award is $50. Everyone who attends the ceremony will also receive a free copy of the magazine.
