Dear Kim Davis and supporters,

The First Amendment begins, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Exhibit A: Congress has not, nor ever, made any such law. That being so, all else is opinion.

Opinion one: Some think the free exercise of religion clause implies one's ability to ignore law that applies to everyone else.  Though too many use that reasoning to do terrible things, I do not put you in their evil company.  Sadly, however, your position does lend support to their twisted logic.

Opinion two: Most think the preceding (establishment) clause prohibits such favored treatment, concluding the religious clause, as it would have been intended by the framers means one is free to believe as they wish, to worship as they wish, and to join with others in worship as they wish...without governmental prevention, interference, or prejudice.

For example, the Minister whose “day job” is as a Sheriff's Deputy ought not give only you a ticket when 99 others are parked in the same lot without permission, just because his Christianity inclines him to stand against someone who discriminates.
